A Global Standard for Drones

Various governments across the world are looking into creating a legal framework for drones, bringing about the need for a uniform set of best practices-- such as the global standards for drone use from the International Organisation for Standardisation.

droneCurrently in draft form open for public consultation until 21 January 2019, the standards suggest the creation of "no-fly zones" to ensure sufficient distance from airports and other sensitive locations. The document even points out geo-fencing technology as a means to stop drones from entering said restricted areas.

Crosley Brings the Cassette Deck Back

Budget turntable maker Crosley turns attention to another supposedly dead audio format-- cassette tape, as the company launches the CT100 and CT200, the first of two such players from the company.

Freenet Commits to Ceconomy Investment

German telco Freenet confirms commitment to a June 2018 investment in CE retailer Ceconomy, despite back-to-back profit warnings bringing about the departure of CEO Pieter Haas earlier last month.

Ceconomy“I still believe in the company,” Freenet CEO Christoph Vilanek tells Reuters, before insisting the company will stick to the 9% stake in Ceconomy. Freenet acquired part of Ceconomy-- worth $323.9 million-- through a rights issue. Vilanek adds the investment was made not in the name of growing share prices, but in order to use the stores to sell more mobile phone contracts, and believes individual stores should have more freedom while doing more to centralise logistics and warehouses.

Razer is best known for gaming hardware replete with garish stylings and plenty of RGB lighting-- making the BlackWidow Lite, a minimalist mechanical keyboard in a matte shade of black, something of a surprise.
