Lexar announces an SDXC card with storage capacity reaching no less than 1TB-- the Professional 633x, an SDXC card leveraging the limit of UHS-I technology for transfers reaching up to 95MB/s (class 10).

Lexar 1TB SD CardThe Professional 633x is technically not the first SDXC card with 1TB capacity. That honour belongs to an unnamed SanDisk prototype unveiled back at PhotoKina 2016. However the SanDisk card never made it to market, and as such one can describe the Lexar card as the first to actually become a commercial product.

CES 2019 sees Cambridge Audio add a classic spin to the classic turntable-- the Alva TT features aptx HD Bluetooth streaming, allowing it to stream 24-bit 48kHz audio to compatible devices.

Cambridge Audio Alva TTThe Alva TT is styled after the Edge hifi separate range from the British company, if with the addition of a a Bluetooth transmitter for the beaming of LP audio to compatible headphones or speakers. Designed and built in-house, it carries a direct drive design with a built-in phono stage, single piece tonearm and a high output moving coil cartridge.

A Bocco Emo Robot for Family Communication

Japanese company Yukai Engineering has a charming means to both monitor the house and help family members leave messages to each other at CES 2019-- the Bocco Emo communication robot.

Bocco EmoThe Bocco Emo looks like a snowman, and is an update of a 2015 robot from Yukai Engineering simply dubbed the Bocco. According to the company, the "Emo" in the name stands for the ability to "express empathy." How so? Apparently the robot can tell between positive and negative messages, and expresses each accordingly. The robot nods and makes happy chirping sounds with a positive message, while a negative message has it light up red, put its head down and make sad whining noises. To do so it can tell between different words, as well as interpret messages based on emoji.

Alienware Claims Upgradeable Gaming Laptop

Alienware presents a gaming laptop promising "multiple firsts" at CES 2019-- the Area-51m not only carries a 9th generation 8-core desktop processor, but it also offers upgradeable internals, a first from the company in 20 years.

Alienwaere Area51-mAs the next Alienware flagship, the Area-51m features a new Legend brand identity while packing desktop specifications in a portable form factor. As such, it is configurable with up to an Intel i9-9900K processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics. The processor is socket swappable, while a DGFF (Dell Graphics Form Factor) slot houses the GPU. Customers can also upgrade the memory and storage, to a maximum of 64GB RAM.

HTC Intros Vive Cosmos VR Headset

CES 2019 has a virtual reality headset update from HTC-- the Vive Cosmos, described by the company as nothing less than a "new premium PC VR system, and a vision of the virtual future."

Vive CosmosHTC is still to fully detail the headset, but it does claim the Vive Cosmos will be both comfortable and require minimal setup for use. It is primarily designed for use with PCs, but HTC says it has "the capability to be powered by more than a traditional gaming PC," a statement further confirmed by the appearance of a smartphone in an all too brief video teaser. Also seen in the teaser is a pair of new controllers HTC says will be both "gamer-friendly" and "versatile."
