Anker presents the PowerLine II USB-C to Lightning cable-- the first of a USB-C to Lightning cable series to receive official MFi certification, while being available at a lower price point compared to the official equivalent.

Anker powerline iiA number of companies are making MFi USB-C to Lightning cables, including Belkin, Griffin and even Anker itself. However, while the Anker Powerline and Powerline+ cables promise increased durability and bend lifespan through braided nylon construction and aramid fibre coverings, the PowerLine II option is a more barebones offering, if one with a lifetime warranty.

A Pink Razer Notebook for Valentine's Day

Razer sets to celebrate Valentine's day in style as it announces a Quartz Pink version of the Razer Blade Stealth 13-inch gaming laptop designed to, as the company claims "steal hearts everywhere."

Razer Quartz PinkApparently "anodised at the sub-molecular level in futuristic pink," the romantically-coloured Razer Blade Stealth is but one of a full lineup of Quartz Pink products. Razer also offers pink versions of the Basilisk mouse, Huntsman keyboard, Kraken headset and Seiren X microphone, among others, and while it does not mention the products are aimed at a female public the implication is, perhaps, all too evident.

Samsung Develops 1TB Storage for Phones

Samsung claims to be the first to break the terabyte threshold for smartphone storage-- specifically by starting mass production of a 1TB embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) 2.1 chip.

Samsung 1TB eUFSDesigned for next-generation mobile applications, the 1TB chip comes just 4 years after the introduction of the first UFS solution, the 128GB eUFS. The 1TB eUFS solution has the same package size (11.5 x 13mm) as previous chips, but doubles the capacity of the 512GB version by combining 16 stacked layers of 512-gigabit V-NAND flash memory and a proprietary controller. The result, Samsung says, provides enough space to store 260 10-minute videos in 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution.

Pioneer Intros VSX-934 AVR

Pioneer announces a 2019 AV receiver-- the VSX-934, a mid-range model with support for 5.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio setups, allowing customers to enjoy 3D audio without installing speakers in the ceiling.

Pioneer VSX-934Being an update on the VSX-933, the VSX-934 supports Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer and DTS Virtual:X technology (via future firmware update) to create "virtual" height and surround sound if the space lacks speakers in the specific positions. Meanwhile DTS Neural:X and Dolby Surround technologies upmix "2D" soundtrack formats to reproduce surround sound with a "wrap-around" feeling from audio encoded on DVD, Blu-ray discs or select video streaming services.

The Next Headphone Maker: Sonos?

Wireless sound system specialist Sonos plans to enter another audio segment, Bloomberg reports-- the company is reportedly working on wireless, over-the-ear headphones, with a release set for 2020.

Sonos tradeshowAs one might imagine, the Sonos headphones should meet the higher end of the market, with a $300+ pricetag. Bloomberg says the company is "focusing on audio quality and the ability to work with multiple music services and digital assistants," pointing out the possible addition of support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, not to mention Siri.
