Cord-cutting STB maker Roku looks to cut audio cables as it announces the Roku TV Wireless Speakers-- a pair of, well, wireless speakers able to pair with Roku-powered hardware via wifi.

Roku wireless speakerThe Roku wireless speakers are reminiscent of the HomePod, and are designed to work exclusively with Roku co-branded TVs. They run on "Roku Connect," a combination of hardware and software allowing the speakers to pair with all Roku OS devices available on the network. Once connected to the TV, the speakers play "optimised sound" from all other connected devices, including cable boxes, antennas and even mobile devices paired via Bluetooth.

MacBook Pro Lineup Gets Refresh

Apple looks to appeal to power users with the MacBook Pro update-- the 13- and 15-inch notebooks get 8th generation Intel Core processors, better GPUs and more RAM, plus a tweaked keyboard promising quieter typing.

MacBook updateExternally the two notebooks remain identical to the previous 2016 models, with all changes being under the hood. The 13-inch model gets a quad-core processors, while the 15-inch carries 6-core processors Apple claims is up to 70% faster compared to the 2016 model. Graphics also get a boost. The 13-inch models features Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, and the 15-inch get a choice of either Radeon Pro 555X or Radeon Pro 560X, both with 4GB DDR5 RAM.

How to Add Wireless Headphone Support to the Switch

A Kickstarter project by startup Human Things promises to bring a missing feature to Nintendo's popular Switch console-- wireless headphone support, through a USB-C dongle dubbed the Genki.

Genki dongleThe Switch technically already supports wireless headsets, but only by plugging an adapter in the USB-A port found in the dock included with the console. The Genki sets to solve the issue by being a small dongle users connect in the USB-C port of the console, meaning it can be used even in handheld mode. It offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, with support for up aptX low latency audio and up to 2 simultaneous audio devices.
