Samsung Unfolds the... Galaxy Fold

Following months of teasing and speculation Samsung takes to the Unpacked stage to officially present its foldable phone-- the simply named Galaxy Fold, a smartphone customers can open into a 7.3-inch tablet-style display.

Galaxy FoldThe Fold consists of two displays, a main "Infinity Flex" 1536 x 2152 resolution and a smaller 4.6-inch 1600 x 900 display on the back. When closed, the Fold acts like any other smartphone, but once opened content from the small display seamlessly appears on the larger screen. Samsung claims the backbone holding the device together can withstand thousands of folds, thanks to a hinge system consisting of multiple interlocking gears hidden at the rear of the device.

McIntosh Presents RS200 Wireless System

McIntosh is the next company to take on streaming audio as it announces the RS200-- a next-generation all-in-one wireless speaker system compatible with multiple services, as well as Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.0.

McIntosh RS200It offers power output rated at 650W, as delivered to 8 drivers consisting of two 4- x 6-inch woofers, four 2-inch midranges and two 3/4-inch tweeters. In addition, a subwoofer output allows connection to an external-powered subwoofer to further enhance low frequencies. A 3-position EQ switch allows customers to set the EQ as based on the specific room and listening preferences.

TCL Working on Five Foldable Devices?

TCL, the Chinese licensee of the BlackBerry Mobile and Alcatel brands, is working on no less than 5 foldable devices, CNET reports-- including two tablets, two smartphones and phone able to turn into a smartwatch by curving around the wrist.

CNET foldable deviceslThe news story comes in the shape of patent filing images and company renders obtained by CNET. As such, actual details of the device are scant, even if what is available is rather interesting. For instance, one of the tablets folds inwards, like a clamshell, while the other has a display on the outside. The smartphones have a similar design, but fold like a flip phone.

Samsung Intros Galaxy Tab S5e

Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab S5e ahead of MWC 2019-- a more affordable alternative to the flagship Galaxy Tab S4, featuring a metal unibody the company says is the thinnest and lightest yet, being 5.5mm thin and weighing 400g.

Galaxy Tab S5eThe tablet promises a big 10.5-inch display, with an 81.8% screen-to-body ratio comparable to the 82.9% offered by the 11-inch iPad Pro. The display features a 2560 x 1600 resolution Super AMOLED panel with 16:10 aspect ratio, but features no S Pen stylus support. As for further specs, the tablet carries an octa-core Snapdragon 670 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage (expandable via microSD slot), 6150mAh battery, 8MP front-/13MP back-facing cameras and quad AKG speakers.

Qualcomm is set for the eventual rollout of commercial 5G networks with the Snapdragon X55-- a 2nd generation 5G New Radio (NR) modem integrated within a single-chip 7-nanometer design.
