Vivitek Presents HK2288 Budget 4K Projector

Vivitek launches a compact 4K UHD projector option-- the HK2288, built around a recently developed TI 0.66-inch 4K DLP DMD chip able to generate 8.3 million individual pixels.

Vivitek HK2288The projector also offers DLP DarkChip3 and BrilliantColor refinements for optimal black levels. Meanwhile eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR) technology uses 4.15 million (2716x1528) mirrors capable of switching over 9000 times per second to deliver two discrete pixels for each mirror per frame, reformulated through video processing to map and reproduce a native 4K image.

The result, according to Vivitek, fully resolves a 4K 1-pixel line pattern and "is indistinguishable from native 4K projection-- unlike pixel-shifting techniques employing standard 1080p chips."

Kantar Worldpanel: iPhone X Anticipation Hurt Apple Share

According to Kantar Worldpanel the late release of the iPhone X hurt Apple market share in key markets during the 3 months ending October 2017, with Android taking advantage of the situation.

iPhone KantarAndroid gained 4.3 percentage points in the big 5 European markets (and 8.2% in the USA) during period. The analyst says such a drop in iPhone volume share was "somewhat inevitable" when comparing the non-flagship iPhone 8 with the 2016 flagship iPhone 7. One also has to keep in mind at least some customers postponed their iPhone purchase in order to compare the 8 with the X, before deciding whether the premium demanded by the overhauled device is worth it or not.

Honeywell announces the Lyric Controller home security system is certified for use with Apple HomeKit-- allowing customers to control the system via iDevice and either the Home app or Siri.
