Users of the 2017 iMac and iMac Pro get a new Satechi accessory-- the USB-C Clamp Hub Pro, an add-on plugging into one of the rear Thunderbolt 3 slots to add more ports.

Satechi ClampMade out of aluminium, the Clamp Hub Pro offers three USB 3.0 Type-A ports with 5Gbps data transfer, as well as an SD card reader. Setup promises to take just a few seconds thanks to an adjustable knob, and the slim design should add little visual bulk to the iMac.

Apple Ships iMac Pro

Apple starts shipping its first professional AIO desktop machine-- the iMac Pro, a workstation-grade machine aimed at demanding workflows such as video and graphics rendering, VR content creation and 3D rendering.

iMac ProFirst presented back at WWDC 2017, the iMac Pro comes in a number of configurations, all packed inside the 27-inch 5K (5120 x 2880 resolution) display found in the latest iMac. The base model carries an 8-core Intel Xeon W processor, Radeon Vega Pro 56 GPU, 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 ECC RAM and 1TB storage. Customers can upgrade the processor to a 10-, 14- or 18-core option, while RAM and storage max out to 128GB or 4TB respectively.

EU Rejects US Intervention in Apple Tax Case

The European Union's General Court refuses US government intervention in the Apple appeal the 2016 European Commission ruling, Reuters reports-- the one with the tax bill worth up to €13 billion (plus interest).

Apple workersThe intervention in question was filed in April. It insists EU actions will impact US tax revenues, as well as hurt tax treaties with other EU member states and even affect global tax reform efforts. In turn, the court simply says "The United States of America has failed to establish the existence of a direct interest in the result of the case.”

Nintendo Switch Sales Reach 10 Million

Nintendo allays fears the early success of the Switch being mere flash in the pan-- the company announces sales of the home/portable console have already reached over 10 million units.

SwitchThe Switch launched 9 months ago on 3 March 2017. In comparison, the Sony PlayStation managed to reach such a total in 10 months, while the previous Nintendo console, the ill-fated Wii U, sold 13.56 million units in its 5 year lifespan. And Nintendo is ready to sell even more consoles in the holiday season, stating "this December in Japan we are planning to ship more units than ever before so that even more consumers can purchase and enjoy Nintendo Switch."
