Optoma Adds 4K Voice Assistant-Compatible, Portable HD Projectors

Optoma launches a full series of projectors-- the UHL55, LH150, LV130 and ML1050ST. The UHL55 is perhaps the most interesting, since it features Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, integrated Android OS and a 4K UHD HDR media player.

Optoma projectorAs well as voice control, the UHL55 also includes auto focus and auto keystone correction, and NuForce stereo audio. The Android OS handles a number of media streaming apps, such as Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and BBC News, among others, and an Optoma Marketplace app provides easy access to streaming services and additional entertainment options.

Meanwhile the LH150 is a 1300 lumen 1080p LED projector. It carries a 12000mAh battery delivering up to 2.5 hours of viewing time, and the RGB LED light source provides up to 30000 hours. The LV130 is an ultra-portable 300 lumen WVGA projector. It has a 6700mAh battery, and connectivity via HDMI and MHL 2.2 inputs. The final projector, the ML1050ST, is an ultra-compact 1000 lumen short throw projector with WXGA resolution.

Apple Watch Reaches Series 4

As one might expect, the Apple September event brings about Series 4 of the Watch-- an update seemingly identical on the outside, if with plenty of improvements on the inside, including a built-in heart rate scanner and watchOS 5 software.

Apple Watch series 4The most immediate improvement of the Series 4 comes in the display. It is nearly edge-to-edge and comes in 2 sizes, 40 and 44mm, with the larger option being 30% than the previous Watch. Audio also sees improvement with a speaker Apple claims is 50%, while a relocated microphone allows for reduced echo and better sound quality. Construction features a black ceramic and sapphire crystal back, and the Digital Crown includes haptic feedback with a sensation of incremental clicks.

Powering the Series 4 Watch is the S4-- a next-generation chip with a custom 64-bit dual-core processor. Apple says it is twice as fast as the previous processor, while still allowing for all-day battery life. Other improvements include an update accelerometer and gyroscope able to automatically trigger a call to emergency services in case the wearer is immobile for 1 minute after a fall.

The Next Device for OnePlus: TV!

OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau makes a surprise announcement-- the company plans to make a TV offering "premium flagship design, image quality and audio," as well as the capability to "seamlessly connect the home."

OnePlusTVs is a first for OnePlus, whose product offering consists solely of smartphones and a small selection of companion accessories. The announcement has little in terms of details for the actual TV, since the product is still at the earliest stages of production, but Lau does tell Business Insider the TV will offer seamless smartphone connectivity and AI smarts akin to the Amazon Echo and Google Home.

Logitech Crayon Available for All

The education-focused March 2018 iPad event saw Logitech reveal the Crayon, a colourful low-cost stylus sold directly to schools. Now the company announces the stylus will be available to all from October 2018.

Logitech CrayonThe Crayon borrows technology from the Apple Pencil with the smart tip allowing users to adjust line weight according to the angle. It does not offer pressure sensitivity, but does include palm rejection technology and MFI-certified charging through built-in Lightning port. Logitech says a single charge allows for up to 7 hours of use.
